Unregistered Horse Permits
Click here to request your permit.
Many great competitive rope horses of today do not have registration papers for one reason or another. While NTRHA encourages accurate records when possible, we also understand that sometimes it simply isn't possible. Those horses should not have decreased value if there is proof of earnings.
NTRHA has partnered with Destron Fearing to ID chip any horse so they can be identified in competition. ID chips are widely used as anti-theft and recovery of stolen horses and are an extrenmely safe and secure means by which to identify horses.
Simply contact the permits department and request your kit. You will need to provide the name, address and phone number of your AAEP veterinarian. We will send the kit directly to them as they are required to place the chip in the horse. They are also required to take pictures of all four sides of the horse showing all leg markings and one head shot showing facial markings. They must also age verify the horse if the owner wishes to compete in any age specified events.
You then simple enter your horse using the ID number you are given. Personnel at the events have special equipment that can read the chips and verify horses. All earnings can now be tracked on that horse along with ownership records.
Your kit is a one time $250 fee. It does not include any expenses incurred by your veterinarian.
